Great bodies of people are never responsible for what they do.

Norwescon 1

One year ago: Romeo Must Die
Three years ago: Easter Bunny Hunt

First day of Norwescon! I got to the Seatac Doubletree Inn before Jack and his daughter H---- arrived from Bellingham, so I was registered and wandering around for a while. The halls were already busy; I think the convention will have a good turnout! Jack and H--- did show up before too long. For the sake of throwing parties and promoting Vikingcon, Jack had booked a very nice, large suite. The jetted tub in the bathroom was quite spectacular!

We had a fast-food dinner across the street, and made it to the opening ceremonies. I wasn't too impressed with the "comedic" remarks that kicked off the show, but I did give the MC credit for trying. The audience just wasn't into current events humor, much. Guests of Honor were introduced, and Connie Willis, artist GOH Bob Eggleton, and Fan GOH Charles N. Brown of Locus fame were actually present.

The opening ceremonies at Orycon are always worth seeing, and people line up for them. I haven't found this to be the case at any other con I've been to.

One of the ways Jack justified the big suite was by throwing a Yuri's Night party. Today was the fortieth anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's flight, so Jack had signed up at the website and listed a party. We all scurried around and rearranged the furniture so as to be suitable for a party, and the suite had a very nice wet bar setup.

Some folks did show from the con, and there were a few non-con-members who had found the listing on the website. Vodka shots, much? It was a nice group, but people can get drunk on vodka quickly. Jack was satisfied with the results, plus the website folks sent him a t-shirt!

Afterwards, Jack and I had the humongous tub all to ourselves, which was very nice indeed. I think I had the water too hot, though -- I was pink and parboiled!
