Like ultraviolet rays memory shows to each man in the book of life a script that invisibly and prophetically glosses the text.

Memento

One year ago: Norwescon II
Two years ago: Imagine
Three years ago: Bohemians

I'd thought of going back to Bellingham today, but when I wrote to Jack about stuff that he'd mentioned doing for me around here, he decided to come down. "Hmm... This is known as a 'Honey Do' List," he said.

I'd mentioned to him that somehow I knocked the pipe under my kitchen sink, and now it was dripping! I'm glad I discovered this before I went to Norwescon; I'd put a large pan under the elbow so there wasn't any damage.

So this morning, I got stuff out of the way under the sink. I felt like I should have gotten under there myself, and just had Jack direct me! His back makes it awkward for him to crawl around down there. But he did manage to tighten that joint (complaining all the while about how badly-thought-out the pipe layout was), and -- bonus! -- we got the soap pump replaced! I'd bought the replacement pump on a jaunt to Canada, but we hadn't gotten it installed until now!

I gathered up the stuff I'd been decluttering recently and we decided to swing by my sister's house, then to Goodwill. I wanted to let my sister M---- and her kids pick through a bag of art supplies, odds and ends, and so on, before donating them. (I wouldn't just pass my junk to her and let her deal with it!) I also gave my nephew J---- the black feather wings I'd bought at a Spencer's Gifts that was closing. He was very pleased with them, and started speeding down the street on his scooter with the wings on his back.

We borrowed the newspaper and looked to see if there was anything playing downtown that we wanted to see. Memento! That would be interesting! So I drove to Goodwill, then to downtown.

We had time before the movie to get a snack, so we ate at Gameworks. Jack said it was more expensive there than the last time he'd been there, and they'd changed the format to table service instead of ordering at a counter. There's a lack of inexpensive food options in that neighborhood.

What a cool movie Memento is! (but hard to spell, I kept writing "Momento.") See it with friends, because there's a lot to talk about. The main character has a short-term memory problem, so he has to take notes and pictures, even tattooing some critical info onto his own body. It's certainly unusual, and kept my attention very well.

I'd bought some linguica sausages at the Pike Place Market yesterday, so I cooked them for dinner, together with pasta. Very tasty! I like buying stuff at the market to support the place, and keep it from turning entirely into a tourist trap. Linguica sausages are Portugese in origin.
