Clumsy Lovers

Truth is a clumsy servant that breaks the dishes while washing them.

Jack wanted to do some work on my computers, but we need a double-headed cable for the hard drives. I drove with him to Seattle Micro. D'oh! I knew I should have called first -- they were closed! There's a Radio Shack downtown somewhere, but where? I drifted south, until we decided to just get another hard drive at Costco.

On the way to Costco, we found a Liquidator placem stocked with costco rejects and returns. There was some cheap chocolate there! Solid easter bunnies, and malted milk robin's eggs. I bought some salad plates in my sister's Botanic Garden pattern.

By the time we got home, Jack didn't really have time to get started with the computer stuff, since he needed to get to the U-district for a Vikingcon meeting.

Jack and I took the bus to the U-district, because they were having the street fair today. Parking would have been very difficult! I walked with him up to the community center, then did some cruising through the booths on the way back to the bus. So much jewelry!

I had time at home to bathe and dress, then drove back to pick Jack up. We had a crockpot dinner, and watched the second half of Princess Mononoke. What a strange story! It seems meaningful, but doesn't follow a western story pattern, I think.

I drove to Ballard. We arrived at the Tractor Tavern, which I'd never been to before. They had very few chairs and tables, compared to the other music venues I've been to with Jack in Bellingham. I guess they can fit more people inside like that. Jam on White Bread opened. Pretty good groove! Aaron Donohue, lead singer and keyboards, sounded like James Taylor! But some of the songs are just too long.

The Clumsy Lovers were next, and they were the band Jack had wanted to see. Now the place was packed! I could get glimpses of the band. Jack was dancing most of the time.

Don, Jim Kling, and Paul Carpentier joined us. I was sitting behind a pillar, between two tables. I liked that space! It was equivalent to my acting as door guard at Vikingcon parties, with a slight separation from the crowd. I should have brought earplugs, though! The four guys shared pitchers of good beer. Jack was rocking out! The music was a lot of fun. I didn't get up and dance until the last few numbers.

We were worried about Paul -- he'd been looking pretty groggy, then disappeared. We wished he'd told us he was leaving! When the show was over, we looked for him in the alleys and nooks and crannies in the area, but there was no sign of him.

After all that activity, Jack was really tired and sweaty when we got back to my place. He took a quick shower, but I didn't jump in with him this time.
