Jack was leaving early, after I bugged him to wake up a few times. He really didn't get enough sleep -- we were up late at the Tractor Tavern, listening to the Clumsy Lovers until the end of the show. My sister called while Jack was in the shower. Was I coming over for my nephew's first communion? Oops! I wouldn't have time to make it to Mass, but would come over later.
My brother called then. (Jack was puzzled by the phone ringing so much, since usually I don't get that many calls.) My brother wanted to reach a friend in Virginia, and needed help with a Job application he needed to get off the web. I was able to figure out the correct URL from the garbled version he had; someone had left him the info in his voicemail, and talked too fast for him to write it down.

After Jack left, I got dressed and dropped the application off with my brother (eleven pages!), then drove over to my sister's house. I was there before they'd returned from Mass, so I waited, reading in the car.
D'oh! I should have bought birthday gifts as well. How lame of me! by my nephew B-----'s request, we had pizza for lunch. A---- arrived, and we discussed the film festival. He's been busy with state worker labor issues, so hadn't been to press screenings and hasn't planned his schedule yet. I need to get things figured out for this weekend!
After cake and ice cream, I drove A---- and older nephew J--- to the U-district streetfair. We parked in a charity lot. A--- wanted to buy shoes, so we said goodby and let him go find them, then cruised the booths. There was a stand with obscure CDs at a good price, so both my nephew and I picked out some. We watched sarcastic street perfomer Hillbilly Bill, then looked at a lot of stuff. J---- wished he could get his ear pierced, but his mom says no. What about a henna tattoo? I offered to pay, since it was only five dollars. He chose an oriental dragon design. They sent us away to walk around for fifteen minutes, then they applied a spray of lemon and sugar. Does this seal the henna? activate it? or what?
A warm, fun day. J--- is good company!
