This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper.

Yumm, fresh ripe mangos! It was worth having them hanging around the kitchen until they ripend. I packed a lunch to take with me to the festival preview screenings today.
Even though I brought my lunch, I had time to go to the Burger King a block away between films. I was interested to note that they had a sign stating "no more free water" -- the worker said that this was because they are now selling bottled water.

(IMBD page for this film) hmmm. A group of bus passengers is marooned in a desert outpost. Why didn't they ask the desert guy more about how to live while waiting? This was a Dogme 97 film. At least that spares us special effects that could make things more graphic when various character die! One thing that made the film interesting -- good actors have to portray regular folks who are non-actors, trying to act.
Tonight I watched the final episode of 3rd Rock From the Sun. not too special, though I always enjoy Sally and Don. I guess they didn't know too far in advance that the series would be ending, or had really run out of ideas.
The "special hour-long season finale" for Frasier was just two episodes, unrelated, strung together. I was antsy, and certainly not riveted. Phooey!

I was surprised to get email announcing that Victor was leaving town. What a shocker! I was also surprised to see Jack reply that he'd try to come to the party; I wasn't expecting him until Thursday. But when I asked him about it, he realized that he'd confused the days. He won't be able to make it tomorrow night, after all.
