Cookout

She was no longer wrestling with the grief, but could sit down with it as a lasting companion and make it a sharer in her thoughts.

We were all invited to dinner, a cookout at Bill and Deanna's. We ate in their apartment, with the grill out on the balcony. Their place is in the same development at Jack's friend Brett! but he wasn't home.

I was suprised that the other guests were parents of a friend of theirs who had died suddenly a few weeks ago (plus another fan). They seemed to be holding up ok. But I felt a bit awkward at first, not knowing what to say since this was our first time meeting them.

Bill and Deanna have a very cozy place, with two shy cats. Jack brought the veggie-bean-sausage stew he'd been cooking in the crockpot. I liked the marinated beef that they had for shishkabob!
