Again the BusI've been on a calendar, but never on time. Monday, October 8, 2001 Jack's daughter H--- was awake, and dressed at seven o'clock. So there should have been no problem getting the bus, but somehow she didn't get out the door in time! She came back, saying she'd take the city bus but didn't have the fifty cents fare. Off she went, but came back almost immediately -- that bus had gone, also. Jack asked her how she planned to handle this problem, which didn't go over well with her. Both she and Jack were upset, and H---- didn't want to get to school an hour late, which is what would happen if she walked. Meanwhile, I went and put my contact lenses in and put my shoes on, then drove her to school. But this isn't good -- she's making it to the bus only about nine out of ten times. Why does she cut it so fine? Is there someone at the stop she's trying to avoid, or does she just follow her dad's pattern of being late?
Jack and I went to get the trailer. On the way back, the hardware deficiencies became evident, when one of the panels became detached on one side! Bungee cords held it together until we got home, but he'll have to do some repair work right away. In the afternoon, H---- and Jack discussed the bus problem before I got home. Jack assigned her to do the dishes this week. I don't have a big objection to this (she'd be doing work I'm normally doing), but it doesn't seem like a natural consequence of missing the bus and inconveniencing others. We'll see what happens. |
