The big question this afternoon: would Jack's daughter H---- go to the high-school football game or not? The friend she was going to attend with was grounded and H---- was worried about not knowing anyone there. Finally she decided to go, after Jack and she checked the bus schedules and he stated that he would call her from the movie theater we'd be at -- she'd better be home by then!

Our first stop was REPC, to replace a power supply we bought the other day. Then on to JoAnn's fabric (really fabric and crafts). This is a JoAnn's Etcetera, a big place that's about half and half sewing and crafting. I'd like to come back next week and buy fall-themed fake flowers for wedding decor -- 75 percent off! I also want materials for a possible christmas gift craft project. Jack looked for ideas for customizing computer cases, then went off to borders -- I met him later.

We were in time for the movie, From Hell. A depressing sign on the door of the theater: all packs and large bags must be left outside. But they didn't challenge my tote bag which had two cans of soda we were sneaking in, so I guess they only bug kids with backpacks or something.

It was a dark movie, but I enjoyed it. Such great English character actors. The best special effect was how they made Ian Holm look tall -- he's a tiny guy. I managed to keep my eyes covered during most of the gore. But even the poorest prostitutes would have been wearing hats or bonnets! That was a slightly annoying anachronism. Home for chili and potatoes. I'm determined to make sure those spuds don't go bad!

In the evening, we watched my Simpsons DVDs. It's a box set of the first season, with many extra features. H--- didn't like it with the commentary on, but that's the most interesting part for me! So I turned it off and we watched the episodes straight, until ten o'clock when she went to bed.
