Slackitude

Generosity lies less in giving much than in giving at the right moment.

Two years ago: Unbreakable
Three years ago: Fatigue
Four year ago: A Day at Home
Five year ago: Keep On Working

I notice that three years ago I was talking about my reluctance to have a public blogroll, that is, a list of blogs that I read. No more! I changed my mind on that one when another weblogger named Anita got higher ranking than me in Google -- I figured that she was more widely linked because people knew she was reading them, because of her blogroll! So I added a list to the index page of my weblog this past summer. It worked, I think, since we traded places again, but Google works in mysterious ways so who knows? But I'm positive that the daily crawl brought new folks to my site.

I think I've gotten past the personal sensitivity about people not linking to me. I just add the link if their page looks like I'll enjoy reading it.

Well, I didn't get much accomplished today. But at least I stopped at the library and dropped off two good-sized boxes of books for their book sale. When I'd taken some to my favored used book store, MacDonald's Book Exchange in Redmond (a few weeks back), they'd rejected a significant percentage. I imagine that at the library book sale the books will have a chance to find a new owner that wants them, more than if I took them to Goodwill, Half Price books wouldn't have been worthwhile.

Tomorrow I'll do better. I'm committed to a meeting tomorrow night for Swingout Northwest. The difficulty they had finding a home to have the meeting in was disturbing! I'm confident about my chosed task for the dance camp: I'll be doing the daily newszine like I did two years ago. (Must check the laptop, find out about printer and/or copier at camp, find out about deadlines for an Issue 0 to put in the welcome packets, and get menu info and other content for that first issue. Who will my contacts be? and so on.)

Instead of going dancing tonight, I shamefully watched TV, switching between European travel guru Rick Steves on KCTS and naturalist (not naturist!) Jeff Corwin out-takes on Animal Planet. A contrast in energy levels, with Rick so laid back and Jeff so hyper, but I like them both.

It looks like my old ISP finally got around to deleting the webpages I had there. This isn't really a problem, except that there were some things there that I haven't replicated here. I have the pages, so I need to look at them and think about what should be reposted. I had lists of photos that could be put into gallery format now. The indexes for each year's film reviews from SIFF were useful to me, so that's something I will update and post (I changed the directory structure for this journal when I moved to this domain). The pages for the Seattle Cacophony Society I should get moved to Cacophony.org. I know this can happen; I just need to work on it!
